Shasta Athletic Club shared Frank Somerville KTVU's post. We are capable of what we decide!

“I was not going to let her quit.” That’s Lt. Aubrey Gregory talking about the woman next to him and what happened during a 10k race yesterday in Louisville. Her name is Asia Ford. At one point Asia weighed 474 pounds. She says: "It's been a struggle because nothing is easy in life.” She knew she had to lose weight. Then her husband at the time lost a limb because of diabetes. Her kids were terrified that was going to happen to her. Asia says: "That is when I woke up and I couldn't allow them to be on this earth without my help and the only way I would be able to help them is if I helped myself first.” She’s been working to lose weight ever since. And one of her goals was to run in the 10k Rodes City Run. She made it for the first four miles, but then she started to feel sick. And that’s when Lt. Aubrey Gregory came up next to her. He says: "I'm not going to let her quit, so I got out and she immediately grabbed my hand.” Asia says: "He asked me if I wanted to stop and I was like, 'No,' we have two more miles to go.’” The two of them walked arm in arm for the rest of the race. (That's Asia's son on the other side of her) Lt. Gregory says he’ll never forget the feeling he had as they got close to the finish line. "Your heart starts to fill up, you get those goose bumps and tingles all over your body. When I watched her approach and I started to hear people scream and I let her go right there before the end and to see her raise her hands, there aren't words to express the way I felt seeing her be successful." Asia Ford says simply: "It was really a special moment.” The Mayor of Louisville posted these two pictures on his Facebook page with the caption: “What a compassionate city looks like: Lt. Aubrey Gregory helps Asia Ford cross finish line at Rodes 10k this morning." Asia ended up finishing the race in last place. But who cares. She made it. She finished. She accomplished her goal. And she says she’s stunned by the outpouring of support: "I have no words about the pouring prayers and support. I thank God for you all and the officer who is my Angel. You all are a big part in my lifestyle change. May God continue to bless you as well(; — feeling thankful." Story courtesy WHAS11 Pictures courtesy Jonathon Roberts
