Education:

I take continuing education classes each year at the Yoga Journal Conference in San Francisco.  I have studied with Jason Crandell, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea, Baron Baptiste, Ana Forrest, Desiree Rambaugh, Julie Gudmestad, and many more nationally acclaimed teachers.

I was one of the first members of Kangaroo Kourts well over thirty years ago, which is when my obsession for exercise and staying fit started.  In the 1980’s Jane Fonda workouts, leg warmers, and thong “leotards” were the rage.  I am embarrassed to look back at how silly I looked, but I felt very cool at the time!  Daily aerobic and step classes became my personal time while I was raising my three young sons and were the way I coped with stress. I soon added running to my workout schedule and by the late 90’s and early 2000’s was running marathons including the Boston Marathon.  Despite my obvious cardio fitness and muscle tone, I still felt something was missing and that I was imbalanced because of the overuse of certain muscle groups.  I was teaching step aerobics and spinning, but when I tried yoga in 1990, I knew that was the thing I needed, the lengthening and strengthening of my body and mind in a very different way.  At first it was hard for me to transition into a slower paced regimen, but the more I practiced yoga the more I  craved holding poses for a long time, moving deeper with each breath.  I have taught yoga for about 20 years, but I still feel its magic! The amazingly dedicated people in my classes inspire me and make each class unique. We have formed a yoga community in which each person is supported and honored and is also eager to open its arms to newcomers.

Fun Fact:  I am a Dancing With The Stars addict!  I can’t bear to miss a show and secretly wish I could dance with Derek Hough!
